Rick and Lori's RV-7A

 Builders Page

"SOLD"

We put her together and flew all over the western United States, in good weather and bad, above and below the clouds, and on dirt and paved runways. Yet, it's time to let the bird go free.  We're not sad.  Our hobbies have changed and it's now time to move on the next exciting project in life.  She is an RV-7A (420hrs-TT), with a carbureted Lycoming O-360-A1A.  The propeller is a constant speed Hartzell which works like a charm.  The avionics package is also listed in the builders pages below and can be summed up as a Garmin GPS/COM-250XL, a GTX320 Transponder, and a single axis autopilot that slaves off the in-panel GPS.  Included is the Kroger shade for sunny weather flying, a real nice canopy cover for tarmac parking, landing lights that actually light up the taxiway, and VFR Day/Night capabilities with full instrument panel lighting and external position lights.  She's a beauty to fly, is fully aerobatic and an aileron roll is a breeze.  She has always been hangered and is a very clean bird.  We're starting our asking price at $65,000 and we are motivated as we have recently moved to Albuquerque, NM and are having a difficult time finding a single hanger for her (she's presently living with several helicopters).  Give us a call at: 505-503-8642 (home), or 505-269-1562 (cell).

Visit the builders pages for a complete history of the building process.

January 15, 2005 - Starting to fly around the countryside.  Places Flown  We love the view from 11,500 feet.  (And, also from 1500 feet AGL)  Lori says she would rather be flying than driving.  It's well worth the 21 months of building.

Currently working on landing gear fairings.  They are a long, tedious task.  We hope to put some paint on the plane this spring.

Welcome to our web page.  Designed particularly for those interested in building aircraft.

This is where is starts.  For those who have never flown in an RV, you need to check out the Van's Aircraft facility in Aurora, Oregon.

My wife and I took a tour and we are sold.  The courtesy flight was just icing on the cake.  My wife is amazed at how much room there is in the cabin of the RV7.  For me, I'm amazed at every aspect of Van's (the friendly service, helpful suggestions, solid built aircraft, short takeoff roll, and the fact that Van himself still works at the facility, ensuring that things are run as they should.)

Our next step is a little more serious as we put together a financial plan for building and owning an aircraft.  We will keep everyone informed as we move along in our RV adventure.
