Back to Beautiful Wife   Ruby Crest Trail, Lamoille and Liberty Lakes, Nevada 2002
Following is a slide show of our 6 mile hike into the Ruby Mountain Wilderness.  The summit was at 10,450 feet and passed several small 'ice sculpted' lakes.
Wildflowers at the beginning of the trail, looking up toward the pass.

Liberty Pass is just to the left of the mountain top on the right of the picture.

Dollar Lake #1 is the first lake you come to, about 1 1/2 miles from the trailhead.

Dollar Lake #2 is just around the bend from Dollar Lake #1.

Lamoille Lake doesn't have much for trees, but there are some deadwood areas just up the hill from the lake.  There are several camping spots on the left side of the picture, no shade, but plenty of green grass.  The water is crystal clear.

The summit was about 3 miles from the trailhead, at 10,450 feet.

Here is a shot looking back toward the parking lot from the summit.

Just a short walk beyond the summit (300 yards) will give an awesome site.  Liberty Lake is the lake below, with Favre Lake nestled in the far mountain.

Here is an enlargement of the lakes, showing Favre Lake a little better.

Wildflowers were abundant.

More Wildflowers.

At the end of the trail, back at the trailhead, we took a quick snapshot of where we had been.
