This is another great event that a person shouldn't miss. Lakeview
hosts this event annually during the September Labor Day weekend. I
have been to this event for the last 10 or so years, and I doubt seriously
that I'll miss any future events. They usually have about 6-7 heaps
with about 10-15 cars per heap. The heap that I have the most fun
with is the women's Powder Puff event. That is when the women get to
crash up their husbands car before he drives it in the main event. I
have got to hand it to the women, they put on a pretty good show... show
no mercy is usually how this event goes. |

Oops! A radiator must have failed in this picture. Most of the cars
run straight pipes so be sure to bring along hearing protection. |

Oh, and don't forge to bring along something soft to sit on. The
plank bleachers get a little hard after about an hour. Show up early
for a good seat. And, speaking of good seats, be sure to sit in the
middle of the bleachers with no support beams blocking your view.. as in
the picture above. You won't regret your visit to Lakeview for the
Rodeo and the Destruction Derby event. But, be sure to get
your hotel reservations early as this event fills up the towns resources
in a hurry. |
