Paradise Valley, Nevada, Petroglyphs 2007

Just to keep the area somewhat discrete, I can tell you the general location; about 45-50 miles north of Winnemucca, Nevada.  Lori and I made a trip to this area on our trusty ATV.

As you can tell by the country, this is an excellent place for game.  And, where there was game, there generally were Indian tribes.

Not far from the four-wheel-drive road, a person can walk to some real nice Petroglyphs.  There are so many writings that I wonder if different tribes wrote updates.  For instance, this photo appears to be a map of the different camps in the area. I couldn't tell where the "You Are Here" was at on the map, but it sounded good to me.
I still wonder what the bar-bell looking symbols are.  There were lots of them around. They are two circles with a straight line between them.  Hmmm!
Some of the writings were right at the ground level.
To write on these rocks it takes precise pounding on the rock until a groove appears.  I imagine the writings might have been made with a deer horn and a rock (as a hammer).  That's my best guess anyway.
More here...
This photo shows a bunch of little dots with some unknown symbols.

It was a cool trip and a beautiful day.
