Our first ski trip for winter 2008 began at Mount Rose; which is located
about 20 miles south of Reno, Nevada. Brent had taken ski lessons last
year and this was our first trip to the hill this season. Myself and
Grandpa are experienced skiers. And, this is Brent's third time on
the hill. He doesn't do too bad for only 1/2 a lesson.
Hold that snow plow Brent.
We did okay on the small runs...
The smaller runs have a gradual slope and are superb for beginning skiers.
It snowed most of the day. But the flakes were small and the only
thing that really got cold was the wind when riding the lift. Dad
stayed nice and toasty, and you can see here that Brent look a little
chilled from the wind.
It was a perfect day for skiing. The snow was fresh and we never
had to wait in line for any of the lifts.
The water tower looks a little frozen. I'm not sure if this water is
used at the lodge or for making snow. This has been a great year for
snow and I doubt the snow machines have been used much this season.
This picture is rather unique. If you click on the photo for a
close-up you will notice that Brent only has one ski. His ski fell
off when he was getting on the lift and the attendant sent it up with
another skier. I can't remember whether he crashed getting off or
not.
We went to the lodge for lunch and to warm up a bit. Brent and I had fish
and chips and Grandpa had a bowl of chili. Mmmmm!
I made several runs down through the powder and the snow was great.
This is definitely a good year for Mount Rose.
Brent made several trips up to the top and skied Lakeview Run.
The run take a gradual turn along the ridge and ends up on the lower and
easier lifts. \
We all had a fantastic time and are looking forward to the next trip.
