In the middle of January the temperature around Elko, Nevada, can get
pretty cold. Brent and I stayed the night in Elko and headed south
to South Fork Reservoir the next morning. I thought it was pretty
cold when the Dodge ran a little rough on the engine start.
As you can see, the temperature at the reservoir was -4 degrees... Brrr!
Brent had a hard time keeping his feet warm. But, it was -4 degrees.
The coldest part of the trip for me was when I cleaned the fish in the ice
hole. My hands were stinging by the time I finished.
You'll notice we were facing the sun while fishing.
My first fish was a nice looking trout.
Then I caught another a little bigger.
Brent, well, he caught the final fish (a monster) at 19 inches overall.
And it was a chubby monster. We didn't really want to leave, but it
is along drive home and three fish is almost more than we can eat in a few
days.
Brent admits he had a great time. And, I second that motion.
