I had heard about a few nice hot springs in the Jemez Mountain range. I
decided to wait until the weather had cooled off so if I did decide to get
in the water it wouldn't be too hot outside.
I took a high road and had to park about 2 1/2 miles from the ridge
above the springs. I took the dogs with me and they had a great time
chasing birds and simply said, "running back and forth wildly."
The hike down the ridge is very steep; about a 45 degree climb. The
picture doesn't do the steepness of the terrain justice. I had to
stop several times going back out just to rest the dogs.... just
kidding...
The first view of the springs is awesome. You can hear the running
water from about halfway down the 1/2 mile grade. The water comes
from two pipes with a full stream of water.
There are multiple pools and I tried them all. Actually, I went back
the next day and got in the water... this trip was just an exploration
journey.
Nice and clear.
Beautiful morning.
As I mentioned above, I hiked in again the next day with a friend and we
packed our swim shorts and had the place to ourselves.
